Ellie had been acting up a lot lately. Joel is beginning to notice signs of ADHD, which isn't surprising since he has it. But Ellie's mom just doesn't understand. She gets mad at everything Ellie does, and can't stand to be around her. Winterfest has passed, but she is still crashing at Joel's house in between her days of being away. Joel had his hopes up, wanting to be a family. He loved Ellie's mom (I clearly didn't bc I can't even remember her name), and wanted a future with her. Maybe things would be okay with time...

As Joel went to go to sleep, he found that Ellie's mom had returned. And it looks like she brought someone over and started to woohooing in Joel's room! What a cunt.
Joel and she were still technically together, but he decided this might be the last straw. He wasn't sure. He had to see what Andie had to think.
Andie has still not kicked the pill habit. She's always doing something like working out or yoga. *shark music as Joel approaches her for advice.)
Walter was doing homework at the other side of the house, but both of the boys could hear all the drama.
They tried to lighten the mood
But Walter was scared, he felt bad for Ellie. He didn't want Ellie to have to be alone and listen to everyone fight. So, he decided to go hang out in Ellie's room for the night. She was basically his little sister after all.
Joel angrily stormed out of his own front door. He needed to go take a breather, and Ellie would be okay. He probably went off and smoked a joint lol.

With his presence, Ellie was able to be comforted and fall back asleep.
While Joel was taking a minute, Andie talked to Ellie's mom. Well, more like chewed out. It was her house too.
Joel came back and they were to discuss their issues and the future in Andie's room. Maybe so they could be monitored lol?
But it was official. Joel and Ellie's mom have officially separated. Joel was going to have to go to court and settle a custody agreement. It hurt Joel to know that Ellie's mother was a shitty mom. She hated Ellie, but Joel would never be able to understand. He loves Ellie with his entire heart. And here her mother is, telling him about how much she can't stand their daughter. Joel's heart was shattered for Ellie's sake.
So he went and broke down to Andie. She would always be there to listen to his issues, and this one was an issue that had used Joel long enough. Joel would be better without her, and Ellie would definitely stay in Joel's care. He was a good dad. Andie almost began to feel guilty. Maybe she has started to feel like a bad mother herself...
