Jayden was upset with the news of the pregnancy but stayed to himself about it. It was hard enough being responsible for one infant already. Could he handle another? Kari didn’t want to be alone. But he would never leave her anyway. Leaving Kari would mean that he would have to leave Joel, right? It didn’t matter. He wasn’t going to think about leaving. He loves Kari, even if they both continue to make bad decisions. But it seems that with each passing day, Jayde starts to accept the truth that he has buried all these years. He loves Kari. He can’t leave her. She is the only girl he has ever loved. But that is exactly the thing.
He thinks Kari is the only girl he could ever love. But he would never tell a soul how he feels deep down.
As time passed, Kari had some pregnancy issues, which lead to her heading to the hospital. She made it back okay, which she seemed indifferent to. It’s not like she was wanting to lose the baby. She actually wasn’t even going to go to the hospital until Jay made her. He was worried, about the baby of course but also how something going wrong could affect Kari. The two of them hurried off in a panic, leaving Joel at the apartment. Before spawning off the lot and into the rabbit hole hospital, they stopped by next door at the Spear’s house to let Amira know that she needed to watch Joel for the night. She was more than understanding and willing to help. Anything she can do to help out her friends.
Even though Amira has had her own hands full with Andie. She’s growing so fast and hitting so many milestones. Even though Amira is fighting her own battles alone, she is there to help when she can. But it does get overwhelming to be the one to listen to all of Kari’s problems. All of her complaints about Jayden and Joel. All of her pregnancy issues. When really, once it might be nice to talk to Kari about how she feels. About how her relationship with Khalil is spiraling. About how he is missing every important first milestone. After all, he wasn’t even home when Andie said her first word. (It was actually a word to Joel!) He seemed distant recently. He was drinking more on the job, which didn't mean much anyway since Khalil is a bartender at the Alibi. (Yes, Shameless inspired.) Most nights he makes it home and sleeps all day, and then disappears whenever things start to be anything other than fun.
Of course, Amira was going to be there for Kari and Jayden. They were trying their hardest to take good care of Joel, right? Amira quickly made her way to the unlocked apartment next door and found a very distraught Joel on the living room floor.
