Joel had had enough. Andie needed to step up and stop acting like a teenager.
A heart-to-heart lead Joel into talking Andie into making a much-needed decision.
Andie needed to go to rehab, or else Joel would take legal custody of her kids and she wouldn't be welcomed home unless she was sober. Walter and Sage had spilled their worries about their mother onto Joel, and he had always sworn he would do what is best for the kids. Whether they are his or not, they are still family. And they were hurting by not having a mother around. It hurt Joel to have to tell her this and of course, he wouldn't let Andie be homeless. But, he had to come up with something to make her want to get better. Ellie made Joel want to get better, yet here Andie was with five reasons to be sober. But she has continued to choose substance over her children. She needed to get her shit together. And Joel was sick of it. Andie was starting to be the very thing that Joel wanted to protect the kids from, and she had to go to rehab.
She was given no other option. Rehab it is.
