Ellie Linton was born at the hospital in early winter. Joel couldn't contain his excitement. Suddenly, nothing else in the world mattered. When the nurse placed Ellie into his arms, he felt his heart swell. He would do everything he could to give Ellie the childhood he never had.
But Joel couldn't help but have his heart break a little each time Ellie's mom portrayed her feelings for the baby. She tried to bond with her, but she still couldn't accept Ellie.
When Ellie aged into a toddler, she had the cutest long blonde hair.
After some time, Joel had convinced Ellie's mother to stay at least until her first Winterfest.
Her mom agreed but still expressed how much she didn't want to be a family. She was young and beautiful. But as time passed, she showed less and less interest in Joel since he was so committed to Ellie. She even told Joel that she would stay with him if they gave Ellie up for adoption. Joel was furious, he couldn't imagine putting his daughter into the foster system. He knew how bad it was. How lonely he felt. He wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Andie. Joel loved Ellie's mom, but he wanted her to be happy. Importantly, he didn't want Ellie to grow up with a mother that didn't care about her. He thought maybe her view would change after Ellie was born, but it only tore her and Joel apart even more.
There would be nights when she would leave the house for hours at a time, but Joel never pressured her to take care of the baby. She clearly had already stated that she wasn't fit to be a mother. Her erratic trait showed strongly with every one of her negative moodlets.
But, she promised she would at least hold on until Winterfest.
